ABOUT · PALIMPSA

Research tools should
respect the researcher.

Palimpsa is a writing and research platform for academics and professional researchers. It helps you find source material, inspect it, and cite it while leaving the central work—the argument and the words—to you.

“A good tool makes the work more accountable without making the work less yours.”

WHY WE BUILT PALIMPSA

OUR POINT OF VIEW

More evidence.
Less interruption.

Research has enough friction already. Finding and checking sources should fit naturally into the writing process.

THE AUTHOR

Your words stay yours.

Palimpsa does not generate, rewrite or complete your prose. It helps with the research around the writing so the author remains the author.

THE SOURCE

Evidence should be traceable.

A useful passage is connected to where it came from. The product is built around source discovery, inspection and citation inside the writing workspace.

THE WORK

Unpublished research deserves care.

Palimpsa uses a server-backed shared document for real-time collaboration, with a local working copy supporting editing and offline access. We are explicit about what is known and what data-handling details still need confirmation.

HOW WE THINK ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Principles before
promises.

We want the product and its public explanations to be inspectable, specific and useful.

01 / HONESTY

Say what the feature does.

Research assistance should be described as research assistance. We do not pass off generated prose as the researcher’s work.

02 / VERIFIABILITY

Keep claims tied to sources.

Passages, citations and their provenance belong in the same workflow, where researchers can inspect and verify them.

03 / TRANSPARENCY

Publish the open questions too.

Where product or legal details are not confirmed, we use visible placeholders rather than pretending certainty.
